7 Pirate Themed Party Games
Man Overboard
This game is played with a small baby pool. Throw a bunch of pirate themed toys into it and add a “man overboard”, usually a small action figure. When the game starts, yell out “man overboard” and the kids will have to scramble to save him.
Dig for Treasure
Go to your local craft store and buy a bunch of coins and jewels that you can use as treasures. Hide the items in a toy treasure chest and tell the kids to start looking for the chest. For that authentic feel, try playing this game at the beach. The larger the area, the harder it will be for the kids to locate the treasure. It’s a really fun game and can be played play over and over again. You can even play it in eliminating style. Hide the treasure chest and the kid who finds it wins the round gets to sit back and act like a proud pirate champion. Allow the remaining kids to find the treasure chest in the next few rounds until only one is left. The last kid ends up as a novice pirate or something like that!
Swab the Deck
This is a good way to get your kids to finally start using a broom – albeit in this case, isn’t for sweeping the floor. Grab some plastic balls and give the kids each a broom. Throw the balls on the ground. Now each child is supposed to use their brooms to try and sweep all the balls to one side. This is a fun game that will have the kids screaming with excitement.
Cannonball Blast
Get a bag of black balloons which act as cannonballs, and tie each one to a partygoer’s ankle. The kids will then have to try to detonate the cannonballs by popping them. Naturally, the kids will start going at each in order to pop the black balloons that are tied to their ankles. The last one standing wins the game. Be warned: this game is a real riot!
Cannonball Attack
Use two strips of tape to mark the floor. Basically, the strips of tape represent two ships. Next, divide the kids into two teams and give them cannonballs that are made out of plastic balls or scrunched newspaper. Set a timer and tell each team to go to war with one another! The goal of this so-called pirate war is to throw as many cannonballs to the other ship as possible before time runs out. The team with the least amount of balls wins the game.
Treasure Chest Toss
Grab a few boxes which act as treasure chests and line them up in an orderly fashion. Take a few steps back and use a strip of tape to make a line which cannot be crossed. Use small black colored rubber balls (cannonballs) and instruct each kid to stay behind the line and try to throw a few cannonballs into the boxes. Each box should be assigned a different point value based on distance of throw. So if a kid successfully throws the ball into a box at the furthest distance, he or she gets the biggest point value. Each kid should take turns throwing cannonballs into the boxes, and the one with the most points wins a goody prize.
Walk the Plank
Find a large 2x4 or large piece of wood that is big enough for a child to walk over. Place it on top of a tarp to simulate water, blind fold the kids and tell them to walk the plank. If they make it all the way across, they win a prize.
Alright! That’s all the pirate themed party games that I could think of. The games listed above are great fun. Try them! I’m sure the kids will have a blast of a time playing these party games.
