Additional Waiting Time for the Release of Much Anticipated Pirate Ship Playhouse Builder Software
Noirritateo are a toy company that produces a collection of software containing a myriad of playhouse toy plans. So it’s amusingly ironic that the word Noirritateo is merely the word “irritate” sandwiched by a “NO”. It’s ironic and irritating because the company had intended to release it oft-delayed pirate ship playhouse plans software almost simultaneously this February in Asia, Europe, and the United States. Will it happen? No.
In a recent statement that surprised absolutely no one within the playhouse toy industry, Noirritateo pushed the U.S. launch to November 15th and the European Launch to late fall. The February 28th launch date in Asia is still a go as of this writing. In a statement to retailers, Noirritateo of America’s Frederick Byrne, executive president of sales and marketing, said this newest delay was needed to avoid what happened with their last playhouse toy plans software launch in 2013 when they “failed to receive full product or marketing support.” A predicted upsurge in demand for the software in Asia would’ve strained Noirritateo’s ability to pull off a worldwide February launch, according to Byrne.
The Chairman's Statement
The newest delay will surely infuriate U.S. parents, but Noirritateo Chairman Mike Memphis sought to persuade parents and retailers that their latest playhouse toy plans software is worth the wait. “I think (the retailers) feeling is that this is a wise decision, and quite frankly, they’re very positive about it,” Memphis said. “We had hoped for a simultaneous launch, and that was our plan going into the Osaka Toy Show, and coming out of it,” he added. “It’s just not feasible, and so we thought we’d do it this way by letting people know it’s a great product but it’s going to be a little longer of a wait”.
What did Noirritateo “do this way?” First, it put out an ad that effectively proclaimed that the U.S launch would have no further delays. Next, it released new enticing details surrounding the Pirate Ship Playhouse Builder Software. In both cases, the goal was to keep parents from deserting the idea of building custom pirate ship playhouses to build normal playhouses. Note too that November 15th date in no way prevents Noirritateo from pulling off a surprise launch, although such a scenario seems unlikely at this point.

Standardizing the Software
The most notable news involved the software’s add-on premium plans and Noirritateo’s decision to do away with the “DIY Pirate Ship Playhouse” name. Instead Noirritateo plans to market the software worldwide as Pirate Ship Playhouse Builder Software, as well as keep its outwardly cover appearance the same.
This is a radical departure from Noirritateo‘s design philosophy, in which, Asia Europe and United States received different looking software covers, plans, and product names. “Quite frankly that was not a difficult decision for us to make,” Memphis said. “There certainly is some value in [the name] DIY Pirate Ship Playhouse in the U.S., but I’m hopeful parents who are interested in constructing a full-blown pirate ship playhouse for their children will look at this [software] as Pirate Ship Playhouse Builder.”
In addition to the name change, Memphis said the box of the Pirate Ship Playhouse Builder software worldwide will be the same: the light blue hue shown at Osaka, and not dark blue as shown in earlier photos. “There might be a little bit of variation as we do the final printing and all that, but the intent is to make it the same color worldwide. I think what was driving this particular decision was just a desire to knock off having one name in Asia, another name in the U.S. and Europe. Let’s just put it all together.”
Does this mean that additional playhouse add-ons will be standardized between software of different countries? Marketing concerns make that an unlikely scenario and Noirritateo officials did not comment on software lockout codes for overseas content. However, the attempt for a unified-software look may be a response to a need for Noirritateo to streamline its assembly lines or at least reduce production costs. “Hopefully people will understand that we are dealing with new technology and new production techniques,” Lincoln said.
Parents in the U.S. who don’t have the will power to wait until November 15th may want to turn their heads to Japan, where the February 28th launch has virtually been set in stone by Noirritateo Co. President Katsushiro Fujiwara. According to Memphis, there will be no pack-in add-on plans with the Japanese software; a similar announcement regarding U.S. software pack-in is expected this July.

The Cost of Add-on Plans
As far as add-on plans are concerned, Byrne said ten to fifteen add-ons will reach the North American market this year. Memphis elaborated on add-on prices, stressing that they’ll hold true to current costs of hiring designers to create each highly detailed playhouse plan ($15 to $30). He added that this price limit will apply to both first- and third-party add-ons, unlike during the launch of the previous playhouse software plans, when only Noirritateo’s own add-ons were kept below $30 while third parties freely set higher prices.
Noirritateo of America will officially roll out the Pirate Ship Playhouse Builder software details next month at the New York toy show. We’ll come out with all guns blazing in that presentation to retailers, parents, and third-party plans publishers,” Memphis promised.
That’s what they intend to do anyway. Will it happen? Hopefully! We’ll just have to wait and see.
