Top 3 Pirate Books for Kids
I went to the bookstore a couple weeks ago and discovered a variety of well-written pirate books for kids. I ended up buying 3 different pirate-themed story books for my two sons. These books are affordable, fun to read and highly entertaining. My kids love reading them, hopefully, yours would too.
1) Shiver Me Letters: A Pirate ABC
1) Shiver Me Letters: A Pirate ABC
This book is about a group of pirates who discovered that they are required to capture each letter in the alphabet or they will end up having to walk the plank. In other words, every single letter in this adventure must be found. The book follows the crew as they search for each letter. One by one, they find and capture each letter with plenty of interesting things happening in between each search. This is a book that combines humorous writing along with many delightfully illustrated images. The crew consists of animals including an alligator, a pig and many more. Your kids are going to have a fun time reading and seeing these animals and the rest of the crew as they search out each letter of the alphabet, one at a time.
2) The Pirates Next Door
Now, this book is about a family of pirates that moved to a new town. They get ready their ship to set sail for the move. Once they arrived at the new town, drama ensues. People in the neighborhood have very mixed feelings about their arrival and many different conflicts spring from that.
As with most, if not all pirate books, there is a treasure involved. In this book, the people of the new town discovered that the pirate family had actually left some treasures for them before leaving the town. The whole town regretted the fact that they were unfriendly to the pirate family when they first arrived. They are some good lessons to be learned from this story book. Although everyone has new treasures to enjoy, not everyone is happy to lose their friends. That's when the last treasure is revealed, a new pen pal!

3) Pirate Pete
The last of the three pirate books for kids that I’m going to go over here is about a pirate by the name of Pete and his best pal which is his pet parrot. In this book, they overhear about the Queen who has a treasure map in her possession. Once they learned about this piece of information, Pete decided that he has to find the treasure for himself. They steal the Queen’s map and set sail to find the treasure.
The book follows his journey as they tackle one adventure after another. When they get to their destination, the Mermaid Island, they also come across other islands that may be loaded with gold. The book follows pirate Pete as he ventures into each island with a burning desire to find more gold. The islands have different themes which create different scenarios for Pete. The islands are called Candy Island, Sleepy Island, and Clover Island. If that's not enough, it turns out that Pirate Pete has to shake-off competition in the form of other treasure hunters.
This is a funny and lighthearted book that can be enjoyed by both kids and adults. Yes, I thought it was a really fun read. The partnership between Pirate Pete and his parrot provide a great source of humor that a lot of people can relate to.
